Jon Cox - a bit about me...
I’ve botched my way through raising two boys and bluffed my way through
ten years of primary teaching. During that time, I have read an awful lot of children's books to an awful lot of children. Eventually I thought I'd have a go
at writing a few myself.
Before teaching I worked in publishing, largely editing and writing travel guide books for Time Out. Despite the odd moment of glamour (being picked up at Hong Kong airport by a gold Rolls Royce sticks in the mind), this mainly involved moving words around on a computer screen for 7 hours a day.
I was born in Nottingham, and have lived in Canada, Stafford, Formby, Hull and, now, willingly and happily for the last 30 years, south-east London.
Things I love: history, growing things, reading, nature, music (I was guitarist and singer in one of the least significant bands of the early '90s, Mimi Dragonhead), Walkers cheese and onion crisps, pear drops, Manchester United, my cats Sparky and Jeffrey, oh, and my wife and kids.
